I got this book after a friend recommended it to me. I had seen pictures of it on the internet, and I thought I wouldn’t learn anything from it, since it doesn’t have much text.
I think the goal of the book was not to inform but to entertain and bring back memories, and it does it pretty well. I laugh a lot reading some of the comments. Mostly, they do not have any relation to what’s been depicted, but are just an idea, a remark or a thought that kids had back in the 80s. I guess the author was born sometime by the mid-70s, and is therefore a couple of years older than me, but I can also remember almost everything he mentions.
I normally prefer books with lots of data on them, but this time, it was a pleasure to read “Papel y Plástico 2” for a good time. There are also “Papel y Plástico” and “Papel y Plástico 3”, I am looking to find them and read them.
The book’s layout is amazing, one of the best layout works I have seen lately. The pages imitate those of a schoolboy’s notebook, with many pictures and some comments to those pictures. The images are big and reveal many details of the toys, magazines, pictures, promotional objects, you won’t need a magnifying glass to see the details, as it often happens in other books. See pictures below.
The book can be found on many bookstores across Spain, as well as lacasadellibro.com, fnac, amazon or any other big online bookstore.
And to finish this article, a few sample pages. The will help you make yourself an idea of what's inside.
