#901 TINTOYS/ TIN'S TOYS - KARINA, BMW 2800, FAIRLADY, PORSCHE and OTHERS (Around 1983)

Here are several other cars made by Tintoys and Tin´s Toys that I have bought in the last year or so. They are very difficult to find, so I am always happy to find one of these brands. It is almost the only budget line that I collect.

Let´s start with the Tintoys, which are previous to Tin´s Toys and labelled with W.T. on the base. None of these three cars are marked with carmaker or model in the base, so I indicate the name in brackets. The Mercedes C111 is not in its best shape, but the paint still resists well. Or at least better than the paint in other brands.

W.T. 201 (KARINA 1700)

W.T. 205 (PININFARINA FIAT-ABARTH 2000)

W.T. 507 (MERCEDES C111)

And now the Tin´s Toys, labelled with T on the base and also the carmaker or the model. If the name had to be completed by me, I put my addition in brackets. The Fairlady is exceptional because it has a chromed based.

T238 B.M.W. 2800
T239 FAIRLADY Z432 (260Z)
T344 KARINA (1700)
T347 PORSCHE (910)

Note that the Karina is presented twice, as Tintoys and also as Tin´s Toys. They have exactly the same color, but different wheels. You may not get confused by the wheels, since Tintoys use both types of wheels, and even other types not represented in this entry. Sometimes the colour may change, as seen in previous entries, see for example #635

#735 TIN‘S TOYS – LAMBORGHINI MURA P4000, CHEVROLET, ABARTH 2000, UNKNOWN MODEL and another UNKNOWN MODEL (T.212, T.214, T.217, T.225 and T.227) (Around 1977)

These are two cars that many people will think they have no value at all, while other people will think they are absolutely fascinating. They are two models made by Tin’s Toys in the late 70s and, to my knowledge, they are unique casts, not copied from other companies.

The cars, of course, don’t look very nice, their casts are not very carefully detailed and the proportions seem to be wrong. The plastic parts are also quite rude, but present fantastic and fictional add-ons to otherwise well known car models. These additions are unique to Tin’s Toys, as it happened with the O.S.I. Bisiluro shown in entry #336.

So the two models are:
T.225 MADE IN HONG KONG in red
This one is in my opinion a MONZA G.T. DRAGSTER (a concept car derived from a Chevrolet Corvair), but for some reason it is not marked on the base. The original car had windshield and roof, but this one (considering that it is complete, and not missing any parts) seems to be a Cabrio.

T.214 CHEVROLET MADE IN HONG KONG in blue
This model I think it is a Chevrolet ASTRO 1, a concept car from 1967, also reproduced (in another scale) by Corgi or Guisval.

UPDATE 1 (May/2017) Added T.227

T.227 RACE CAR (Basedon an unknown design)

UPDATE 2 (Feb/2019) Added two more models from the same series and similar reference numbers. These come with chromed base.

T.212 Lamborghini Mura P4000 (Miura)in red
T.217 Abarth 2000 in violet

UPDATE 3 (Jul/2019) Added another Abarth 2000, this time in blue instead of violet.

#635 TINTOYS/ TIN'S TOYS - GULF MIRAGE (W.T. 505), LOLA L & M 260 CAN AM (W.T. 701) and PORSCHE AUDI (T. 313) (Around 1979 and 1983)

This time I am presenting three cars that fit together well because they were made by the same manufacturer under two different brands. First Tintoys then Tin's toys (as explained in entry #594)

Tintoys models are W.T. 505 and W.T. 701, while T.313 is Tin's Toys.

(Left to Right:)
W.T. 505 GULF MIRAGE
W.T. 701 LOLA L & M 260 CAN AM
T. 313 PORSCHE AUDI

The interesting thing is that the name of the car casted on the base fits perfectly with the stickers the carry: Gulf Mirage actually has "Gulf" stickers, and the Lola L&M 260 Can Am has "L&M" stickers. Chance? I don't think so.

Another very interesting fact is that the Lola also has a sticker "Club Norev". Which is the relation between this brand and Norev?

UPDATE: I got three more Tin's Toys models that would fit perfectly in this entry. They seem to be more modern models and came without the plastic driver.

The grey one is a Matra Simca MS670 (T316)
The blue one is a March 707 Can-Am (T315)
The orange one is anotherPorsche Audi (T313)

UPDATE 1 (May/2017) Added second MATRA with original type of wheels and original sticker at the front.

UPDATE 2 (Sep/2023): I had the Gulf Mirage in gold, now I own it also in green, and not once, but twice. The stickers do not match anymore. Instead of Gulf Stickers, I have Caltex and Energizer... so probably and after all, it was just a chance that the stickers matched in the first foto of this entry.
