#1103 BBURAGO – 2 METAL MODELS 1:43 (ref. 4200): FERRARI 308 GTB RALLY and BMW M1 BASF (Around 1988)

I presented many years ago all the Bburagos I had in my collection in several entries, but after that, I decided to sell all of them, since they were in a scale I didn´t collect and they were not part of my childhood memories. I still kept one I had boxed and a Fiat Uno, that was the first car I drove when I was 18 years old. I later found this box for very little money and I bought it, since boxed toys are somehow nicer to have and to display than loose ones.

It also included two of my favorite cars of the 80s: the BMW M1 and a Ferrari 308 GTB Rally (curiously, the same car I already owned boxed, but in an alternate colour and decoration). They are astoaunding designs and I like the way they are presented in the box. The 2-pack was probably part of an offer in which the price for the pack was lower than buying two individual models. The company can this way sell models that they have in stock and the customer profits from lower prices.

This kind of box is not very rare, the company used it during many years changing its design. I have seen some of these on eBay and those available go for very little prices, usually less than 20 euro.

The BMW comes in its iconic BASF decoration, used also by other toymakers, while the Ferrari decoration is based also in a real one, but the car was either blue or white instear of green. Bburago usually had dozens of different sticker sets and colour for every cast, so this was a common practice for them. I recall having surfed a web listing all known variants, hundreds and hundreds of cars listed.

The box has a catalogue listing on the back part, although interestingly, mainly 1:18, 1:24 and 1:87 scales are represented. The front part has two windows and a punch hole to be hang in a display in a toy store.

#793 BBURAGO – MCA/MIG CENTENAIRE, CHEVROLET CORVETTE ’83 and CHEVROLET CORVETTE ’97 (1994, 1997, 1999)

Three dream cars by Bburago in 1:43 scale. I don’t know any other Centenaire made in small scale, probably because I am not so well informed of die-cast news since the mid 90s. The car is stunning!
The other two are two Corvettes (models from 1983 and 1997), both beautiful, although the green one has been “customized” and its stickers torn.

MCA/MIG Centenaire (Nr. 2083) from 1994 to 1996

Chevrolet Corvette 1983 from 1997 to 2006

Chevrolet Corvette 1997 from 1999 to 2006

These were my last Bburagos. Despite being nice reproductions, I am not buying any more, they are somehow difficult to collect because of the many decorations of each model and due to their scale, they take too much space. I will only keep several cars (currently 3 or 4) that are among my very favorites.

#775 BBURAGO – LANCIA DELTA, RENAULT CLIO RT and FIAT PUNTO (1987 and 1994)

Three more Bburagos in 1:43 scale, I like that Bburago made not only great sport cars, but also quite ordinary cars as well. Sometimes these were decorated with rally stickers (like the Renaul in the pictures), but other times, they were sold without any further add-on (like the Fiat).

The cars in the pics are:

Renault Clio RT (Nr. 0412) from 1994

Fiat Punto (Nr. 1842) from 1994

Lancia Delta S4 from 1987 to 1995

FACTS AND FIGURES:

  • Year: 1987 and 1994
  • Company: Bburago (Italy)

#722 BBURAGO – MERCEDES 190 E and BMW M3 (1985 an 1995)

The Mercedes 190E was, if I recall well, the cheapest Mercedes model by the mid 80s, and so, a car that could usually be seen on streets. It is nice, but this decoration in blue with “Monroe” stickers is not especially nice. It is one of the most common decorations from this car, that was available from 1985 to 1995 and then again between 1998 and 1999.

The other two cars are actually the same model in two decorations, and I grouped them together with the Mercedes because they are German makes and their decoration is probably based on the DTM championships. Despite the similarities, it’s ten years between one and the other, so we see how the design (in general) has changed from straight lines, to a more curvy design, with rounded angles and improved aerodynamics.

The other two, as I was saying, are two BMW M3.

The white one has Warsteiner and Fina advertisements on it and is number 4197 was available between 1995 and 2003.

The second one in green has Tic Tac stickers and reference 4167, which was available from 1995 to 2000.

Despite the roughness of Bburago models in this scale, they have been played and present several defects.
FACTS AND FIGURES:
  • Name: MERCEDES 190 E (4102) and BMW M3 (4167 and 4197)
  • Scale: 1:43
  • Year: 1985 and 1995

#698 BBURAGO – LAND ROVER, PEUGEOT 405 and SUZUKI VITARA (1992)

I have still a few Bburagos in 1:43 scale to show. Here are three that have a few things in common. First is that they are 4x4 vehicles, two of them are prepared to run rallies or raids and the third is decorated as an utilitarian. Another thing they have in common is that all three were released (at least with these decorations) in 1992, and that is already a long time ago… 24 years.

As always, I checked www.bburago.info to find all the information related to these cars. This is what I found:

Suzuki Vitara – ref. 0534 – 1992-2004

Land Rover – ref. 0450 – 1992-1995

Peugeot 405 – ref. 0519 – 1992-2006
