And today,
an update of an entry published looong ago… two more “Fright Features” Real
Ghostbusters: Ray and Janine. Egon and Winston were presented in entry number #21,
so only Peter Venkman is missing… he’ll be here as soon as I find hishook-weapon.
Something interesting about Janine is that this figure is the first version of this character in the toyline. For the first wave, only the four ghostbusters where produced as figures. After this version, more figures of the secretary were made. From the five "Fright Features" figures, this one is probably the rarest, although all five are really cheap and common figures.
Everything
told in that previous entry is also valid. for these ones: the figures came with a weapon an a
ghost, the ghost could “attack” in some way the figure, and the figure could
trap the ghost with the weapon. In this case, the “attacks” of the ghost are
not so clear. In the case of Ray, the ghost attaches to his belly, but in the
case of Janine, there’s no interaction between the figure and the ghost. The
ghost has a cylindrical hole under its feet, but it cannot be attached
anywhere.
How does the ghost attack? |
And these are their Fright Features!
The
weapons, however, do their mission very well, and can capture the ghosts very
well.
Here’s the
back card of Janine, showing the action features of the figure. This is another
figure I bought half-price many years ago. Ray was acquired loose last month,
so I do not have the card and I can’t show the cardback. Sorry.
Janine Melnitz's Cardback - Note that the attack of the ghost is not specified. |

Hi Romain, thanks for the message and sorry for the delay in the answer, I was on holidays. I known your looking for Janine, if I find her, I´ll get it for you.
ReplyDeleteUsed to have all these except Janine, but I had the Ecto 2 and a few other pieces to go with the set including Slimer with his backpack that pushed slime out of his mouth. The slime quickly went in the trash when my parents found out it didn't come out of carpet easily haha
ReplyDeleteHi, Thanks for the comment and for sharing that nice story. I also had one of those slime cans (in Spain it was called "Blandi Blub"), but it wasn't part of any figure or playset. It brings me good memories! :)
